Alpha Jobe, a young Gambian writer, poet, entrepreneur, and Author majoring in English at the University of The Gambia, is seeking support to launch his first solo book, “Out of Darkness.” In addition, he has co-authored three books, one currently in the virtual world awaiting publication and two others yet to be published.

In an exclusive interview with TAT, the young writer stated that his book’s anthology is a collection of heart-touching, breathtaking, and emotion-poking poems about Gambian society.

” It addresses societal problems, such as the treatment of the poor and orphans in society. It also exposes the unscrupulous officials in the country and how they hinder development. Moreover, in this anthology, a heart-touching piece is dedicated to the most strong-hearted man on earth, Kunta Kinteh”.

As the Author, he deems it essential to examine the community he hails from closely and from closely and reflect on the experiences and daily routines of the people within it.

“As the famous adage goes, “We are all actors in this world,” and so, I believe one’s impact depends on the role one plays.” With this in mind, I have taken it upon myself to impact the lives and livelihoods of others through a collection of heartfelt and thought-provoking poems,” he said.

He revealed that the title of his book, Out of Darkness, encapsulates the essence of his work. It explores individuals’ ways of life in society, shedding light on their struggles and triumphs.

He explained that the book contains 32 poems on love, culture, peace, and many more themes. Students can learn a lot from this book and get many messages about society.

Mr. Jobe calls on the upcoming writers to be hardworking and know that writing is challenging, adding that they must be well prepared by reading materials, avoid AI, and write naturally.

The young Author cited the most unexpected challenge he encountered on the journey when he wanted to name his book after Kunta Kinte. He went to the Ministry of Arts and Culture to discuss this, and they said the name Kunta Kinteh was already copyrighted. He said that was when he changed it to “out of darkness.”
