A senior commercial driver in Farafenni has described as worrying the spade at which vehicles plying the north bank road are burning down to ashes.
Speaking at Njaw in CRR north recently at the scene of a burned down car, Babour Njie told TAT that more than eight commercial vehicles caught fire and burnt to ashes along the same road in the last two months.
In many cases, these cars will be in motion with passengers on board, only to be in flames.
Njie further revealed that the causes of such incidents are not ascertained because police don’t usually give comprehensive reports or even investigate such matters.
“Only this afternoon, a seven passengers Peugeot vehicle caught flames as the driver was heading to Lamin koto from Barra, this vehicle burnt to ashes, and all passengers’ luggage got burned, though no one on board was hurt,” Njie said.
He used this occasion to call the government to investigate and remedy the situation.
