President Adama Barrow will not receive the final report of the truth commission investigating the human rights violations committed by Ex-President Yahya Jammeh and his associates as scheduled until further notice.
It’s the third postponement of the crucial TRRC report submission expected to launch crucial steps towards the development of recommendations and much anticipated implementation.
President Barrow was expected to receive the report on Thursday 30 September 2021 after the commission sought an extension to the earlier date for the submitting of the report, whose fate can either make or break the country’s transitional justice process.
Victims and the bulk of the population, which closely monitored the truth commission have been eagerly anticipating the submission of the final report to the presidency but its clear they have more waiting to do as the executive delays the process yet again.
A new date is yet to be communicated.
