The Chief Executive Officer of the Gambia Investment and Export Promotion Agency (GiEPA), Ousainou Senghore, has been elected as the new Vice President of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Trade Promotion Organizations (TPO) Network.
The event, held at Guinea Bissau from the 5th–6th of July 2023, attracted the 15 ECOWAS member countries to participate in the third annual general meeting of the Network since its establishment by the Council of Ministers on 17th June 2021, at their 86th Ordinary session.
Mr. Senghore, till his election, has remained the Leader of the Technical Committee in charge of Finance and Resource Mobilization for the past three consecutive years.
The ECOWAS TPO Network is a public-sector-led entity mandated to partner with the ECOWAS commission to drive inclusive trade development initiatives within West Africa and beyond. The Network looks into the importance of Trade Promotion Organizations in accessing new markets and establishing linkages between local and international businesses. If soundly operationalized, this new mechanism of the TPO Network should help a great deal in boosting trade among ECOWAS member states and boost and deepen economic integration in the sub-region.
