At least twenty-eight (28) goats are reportedly killed after a thunderstorm at the country’s Sare Soffie, Upper Fulladu District, Central River Region (CRR).

An eyewitness to the unfortunate incident, Dawda Baldeh, told Alkamba Times that the incident occurred on Friday afternoon when the children of one Kebba Baldeh went for herding on the outskirts of Sare Soffie.

While the rains started pouring, the children and the goats took shelter under a big tree where the thunderstorm instantly killed twenty-eight (28) goats.

He described the incident as a ‘big blow’ to the Baldeh family, who only depends on crude farming and animal rearing.

Baldeh called on people to support his brother saying his brother has incurred a significant loss on their investment, and the animals are what the family depends on for survival.

The victim Kebba Baldeh said seven (7) of their children went for herding when a thunderstorm struck, noting that one of them fainted but recovered after receiving medical attention.

He described the incident as unfortunate and a significant loss to his family, noting that the goats are the savings he used to address his family’s needs.

Baldeh called on the government, philanthropists, and samaritans to come to his aid at this challenging moment.
