Germany-based Gambian social justice advocate, Kalilu Banja, has been appointed Social Support Officer at the Migration and Refugee Regional Department at Landratsamt ( Regional administrative office) Böblingen in Baden Burtenburg Region, Germany.
Gambian immigrants are credited for changing the narrative in Germany by achieving the most incredible success in school and getting job appointments at German regional administration offices.
Left the Gambia seven years ago due to the repressive political environment and went through the integration process, and did three years of training as a nursing & Social Support Officer in Kolping Gesundheitschule Stuttgart, Banja told AlkambaTimes:
“My appointment came after I applied and was successfully unrolled on the 26th of May, 2023. The contract is facilitated by the Human Resources Department at the Landratsamt Böblingen.”
He added that his tasks are and are not limited to serving Migrants & Refugees of different backgrounds; the job ahead is enormous; however, he will try his best to deliver as expected.
According to him, they initiated ArtWatch – The Gambia last year, and it’s in the foundation stage. They are working with a dedicated team in the Gambia and worldwide.
“We will continue to give our support whenever needed. Part of my work is to initiate Intercultural Dialogues and Intercultural Activities to make Migrants and refugees feel at home,” Banja, widely regarded as Social Justice Activist, Human RightsDefender, Cultural Diplomacy, and Culture Migration Integration, said.
