The police in Banjul confirmed Friday evening to TAT that they have detained the managing director of Gampetrolum, Saihou Drammeh.
Police spokesperson ASP Lamin Njie confirmed Drammeh’s arrest in an Interview.
“ Yes, we can confirm his arrest in connection with transactions relating to petroleum products under his purview,” Njie said, without specifying any charges.
He added that Drammeh is currently helping the police investigating the matter.
Lamin Gassama, the company’s director of operations, was reportedly also arrested along with the managing director, but this was not confirmed by the police.
However, our sources said Gassama was, indeed, arrested and detained by the police.
Our sources also gave TAT the names of prominent Gambian businesspeople and their company, mentioned as suspects in this matter, and further information will be release when verified.
