There has been a shake-up at the Gambia Ports Authority (GPA), with Lamin Jawara, the ferry service chief, sent on administrative leave.
This was confirmed to TAT by sources at the Transport Ministry in Banjul, to which the GPA board reports.
A source told TAT: “Government, through a letter received from MoTWI (Ministry of Transport, Works and Infrastructure), has put General Manager Lamin Jawara on administrative leave effective yesterday until further notice, and that Abdoulie Tambedou of Gambia Post is replacing him.”
Jawara has served as the General Manager of Gambia Ferries Services for over two years, a subsidiary company of GPA.
TAT has not yet learned why the government asked Jawara to take administrative leave.
However, Jawara’s replacement is reported to be Abdoulie Tambadou, who is currently Managing Director of the Gambia Postal Services, Gampost.
Tambedou once served as GPA managing director.
