Following the sacking of Gambia Ferry Services General Manager Lamin Jawara, TAT is reliably informed that the managing director of Gambia International Airlines (GIA), Lamin Cham, has also been fired by the Gambia government.
Meanwhile, top government officials familiar with recent changes told TAT that more government state-owned enterprises are expected to be affected by the move to remove some top officials after reports that some are not meeting the government’s expectations while others could be politically motivated.
A Sheffield University Graduate, Mr. Lamin Cham became Managing Director of the Gambia International Airlines in 2017. His tenure witnessed several allegations of corruption and favoritism, including the controversial Airport security fee now paid by all visitors and air travelers using the Banjul International Airport.
