Sablux Group, a prominent West African real estate developer with roots in Senegal, has officially established Sablux Gambia, marking its entry into the Gambian market and expanding its international footprint to five subsidiaries.
The launch event, held in Bijilo, underscores the company’s growing ambitions to tackle housing shortages and drive urban development across high-potential West African economies.
Sablux aims to help close the country’s significant housing deficit, estimated at over 128,000 units, by developing residential, commercial, and mixed-use projects that meet international quality standards. These initiatives are expected to support the urban transformation of Greater Banjul and the surrounding areas.
Gambian Minister of Tourism and Culture, Hon. Abdoulie Jobe, welcomed the new subsidiary, highlighting the government’s focus on sustainable economic growth, job creation, and deeper regional integration. He stressed the value of private sector partnerships in boosting tourism infrastructure while preserving cultural heritage.

“We welcome Sablux Gambia and believe their presence will boost economic growth, create jobs, and strengthen regional integration,” Jobe said. “This occasion marks not only the establishment of a new business entity, but also a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to promote sustainable economic growth [and] create employment opportunities.”
Reine Marie Diouf, General Manager of both Sablux Gambia and Sablux Mali, expressed strong confidence in the Gambian market. She announced plans for investments exceeding $200 million across multiple projects, emphasizing the company’s commitment to building sustainable urban spaces.

“Sablux Gambia is committed to building sustainable urban spaces and contributing to Gambia’s development,” Diouf stated. “Our ambition in the Gambia is simple. We want to bring our expertise in real estate and development, construction and quality, and property management, and combine it with yours.”
Diouf also celebrated the deep cultural and historical ties between Senegal and The Gambia, noting the shared “family language” that transcends linguistic differences.
Amadou Lamine Ndiaye, Chairman of Sablux Group, echoed this sentiment of brotherhood. “We share cultural ties with Gambia and are excited to invest in the country’s future,” he said. In a light-hearted reflection on Senegalo-Gambian relations, Ndiaye added: “When Senegalese and Gambians sit together, the teasing never stops. You say our snobbish French makes everything complicated… We say your English makes you wonderfully stubborn. But when it truly matters, we speak the same language, the family language.”

With 17 years of experience, Sablux Group has successfully launched over 100 real estate projects, delivering more than 6,500 housing units and generating around 6,700 direct and indirect jobs. The Group currently operates in seven countries, including Senegal, Guinea, Côte d’Ivoire, and Burkina Faso, with further expansion underway in Mali and Benin through strategic partnerships. Its portfolio spans premium residences, mixed-use developments, and innovative urban solutions tailored to local needs while adhering to high construction standards.

The launch of Sablux Gambia is seen as a boost for private investment in The Gambia’s real estate and tourism sectors. Officials and company executives alike view it as a concrete step toward addressing housing demands, creating local employment, and fostering cross-border collaboration in West Africa.

As Sablux Gambia begins operations from its base in Bijilo, Kombo North District, industry observers anticipate accelerated urban development and increased investor confidence in the “Smiling Coast.” The subsidiary’s focus on quality and sustainability positions it to play a meaningful role in Gambia’s long-term economic vision.
