The Gambia Amputee Football Association (GAFA) has commemorate this year’s international day of persons with disabilities with a football match at the National Technical Training Center in Yundum.

Kanifing Municipality came from two goals down to beat West Coast Region in a clash between the two powerhouses in Gambian Amputee Football.

Francis Gomez, president of The Gambia Amputee Football Association expressed delight for this year’s event.

“This is a great achievement for us as a group. We are excited to see many people who have sacrificed their precious time to celebrate this day with us. It definitely mean a lot for us and will help to create more awareness to the public about Persons With Disabilities in our society,” He told Alkamba Times Sports.

“The test match was an excellent idea by the Amputee Association to create awareness and give a chance to the Amputee family to come together and celebrate this special day of ours to have fun among ourselves,”

He said: ” We are appealing for more support from authorities as we have a team preparing for next year’s Amputee tournament in Morocco. The players deserve support to go out there to showcase their talents.”

International Day of Persons With Disabilities (IDPD) is a UN day celebrated annually on 3rd December.
