BMCH Hosts 2023 Performance Review Convergence with a call for more Subvention

On Saturday, one of the country’s best hospitals, the Bundung Maternal and Child Health Hospital (BMCH), host its 2nd edition of Performance Review Convergence for 2023, with hospital management calling on the government through the Ministry of Health for more subvention and investment to sustain the gains made in service delivery in the health sector.

The event held at the Bakadagi Hotel brings together senior government officials, retirees from the Ministry of Health, the Municipal Council, and the National Assembly Member (NAM) for Bundung-ka Kunda, among others.

Under the guidance and leadership of CEO Dr. Mamady Cham, the convergence provided a platform for reviewing the hospital’s performance over the past year, highlighting achievements, identifying areas for improvement, and setting the course for future initiatives. The participation of critical stakeholders underscored the importance of BMCH’s role in the healthcare system and its commitment to continuous improvement toward excellence in healthcare delivery.

Dr Stephanie Awa Mendy, gynecology department registrar, says the event aims to evaluate their goals and identify deficiencies and challenges.

“A performance review formally assesses an employee’s work performance.  This performance appraisal aims to effectively identify our strengths and weaknesses. Offer constructive feedback, and set goals for the future by exchanging ideas.”

The second convergence was held under the theme “Using service delivery data to enhance innovation and excellence in Maternal and Child Health services and outcomes saw presentations from various unit heads on the progress and challenges facing thier operations for better service delivery.

Deputy Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health Babanding Sabally calls other health sectors to emulate the Bundung Maternal and Child Hospital.

He assured the government of continued support through the Ministry of Health in providing quality health delivery in the country.

” The Ministry of Health and its partners are working together to ensure that health threats are dealt with quality.” Deputy Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health stated.

DR. Mamady Cham, the Chief Executive Officer of Bundung Maternal and Child Hospital, underscores the importance of collecting data for analysis,  noting that data are valuable in contributing to the institution’s development. 

He also commended his team of health professionals for their great work for the communities and urged them to continue demonstrating professionalism.

Representing the Board of Chairperson Clara Sairie Mendy,  she remarked that the board will remain committed to quality and reliable service delivery. She called on the Bundung staff to remain committed while assuring the board’s continued support to the staff.

“We will continue to support whatever is required to continue delivering to expectation and  continue to showcase what is required from a service delivery perspective from a  public service sector perspective.”
