The Gambia as Champions of 2021 Africa Beach Volleyball will represent Africa at the 2022 edition of the King of the Court Beach Volleyball Championship in Doha, Qatar.
Bai Dodou Jallow, president of The Gambia Volleyball Federation, confirmed this news to TAT. He said the Gambian team will be taking part in the tournament from 6th to 9th January 2022.
“This is a great opportunity for our athletes who are competing for the first time in such a tournament,” he said, describing the championship as a high-profile tournament where champions across the world will participate to showcase their talent in beach volleyball.
Mr Jallow added that they are hopeful for a respectable performance from the team.
Pa Alieu Njie will return to play for The Gambia for the first time in seven years. He last played for The Gambia beach volleyball team in January 2015.
Njie will pair with Sainey Jawo, who will miss his long time partner, Mbye Babou Jarra, whose Covid-19 test returned positive.
