Twelve students took the transformative four-day photography training program, spearheaded by Baldezz Multimedia and supported by the International Organisation for Migration ( IOM) and CinemaArena, recently took place to equip a new generation of aspiring photographers with essential skills and practical experience.

Held in  Gomindz,Kairaba Avenue. The training brought together passionate students eager to make their mark in photography.

The program kicked off with a foundational session on the basics of photography. Students were introduced to the “Exposure Triangle,” consisting of Aperture, Shutter Speed, and ISO—key components in creating well-exposed and aesthetically pleasing images. The day was rich with practical exercises, allowing participants to apply these concepts hands-on, setting a strong foundation for their photography journey.

Speaking to TAT, Sarjo Baldeh, CEO of Baldezz Multimedia, said the training is meant to empower and train young and upcoming photographers in the country.

“On the second day, the focus shifted to the artistic elements of photography. Students delved into the rules of composition, learning about the Rule of Thirds, Leading Lines, Symmetry, and more. The day also featured an in-depth exploration of studio lighting techniques. Participants were introduced to various lenses, understanding how each lens can alter a photograph’s perspective and depth of field. Practical sessions in a controlled studio environment helped solidify these concepts.”

“The third day emphasized reflection and post-production skills. After a comprehensive recap of the previous lessons, students engaged in a “Mapping Out” session, reflecting on their personal journeys and the challenges they’ve overcome. This reflective exercise was about personal growth and inspiring the participants to make positive changes in their lives and communities.”

Their focus also shifted to digital editing. Students were guided through various editing software, enhancing their photographs and refining their post-production skills—an essential aspect of modern photography.

The session was completed with sports photography, Sarjo Baldeh’s favorite part. She led and shared insights into capturing fast-paced action, broadening the participants’ understanding of specialized fields within photography.

On their final day, students culminated all the knowledge and skills gained throughout the program. They presented their final projects, showcasing their understanding of photography’s technical and creative aspects. Each presentation was a testament to the progress made during the training.

Participants were awarded a certificate recognizing their hard work and dedication. The impact of the training was immediate, as two students were selected to document the activities of football teams in The Gambia, marking the beginning of their professional journeys in photography.

The four-day photography training, supported by IOM Gambia and CinemaArena, was a resounding success. Beyond teaching technical skills, the program provided participants with practical opportunities and encouraged personal growth. The impact of this training will be felt in the community as these young photographers step into their roles with confidence, ready to document the world around them. Baldezz Multimedia remains committed to nurturing talent and making a lasting difference in the photography industry.
