Berewuleng came from behind to defeat Red Scorpions 2–1 in the GFF Women’s Super Cup, adding yet another trophy to their growing cabinet and sending a clear statement ahead of the new season.

Red Scorpions took the lead through Fatou R. Jallow, but Mafanta Drammeh restored parity for Berewuleng. The decisive moment came in the 84th minute when Kaddijatou Drammeh struck a stunning winner. A poor midfield clearance fell kindly at her feet, and she wasted no time, unleashing a powerful shot into the top corner.

Speaking to Alkamba Times, the match-winner reflected on the significance of the victory.

“Last season we beat Red Scorpions, but we didn’t know much about their team this time. Some players left and we were not familiar with their replacements, while our own signings were still settling in,” she said.

“We played our normal game. This was our moment. Previously there was fear whenever we played against them, but now there is confidence. No matter how tough it is, we play well against them.”

On her goal, Kaddijatou added:

“I was happy about the goal, especially because it turned out to be the winning goal. It boosts my morale and gives me more confidence, which I will take into the league. I used to score goals like that, but never against Red Scorpions.”

Head coach Fakebba Saine also expressed his delight after lifting the Super Cup.

“It is a great achievement and a historic moment for me and the team. I felt proud to complete the missing trophy in my cabinet,” he said.

“Winning the Super Cup will serve as motivation for the team ahead of the upcoming GFF Women’s Division One League 2025/2026 season.”

Coach Fakebba highlighted the impact of new signings and the team’s ambitions moving forward.

“We made some signings, and they paid off in the Super Cup. We hope for the same impact in the league. We want to be better every season, both as a coach and as a team, and I believe this mindset can earn us more glory.”

Reflecting on the match situation, the coach remained confident even after conceding first.

“When they scored first, I knew we would equalize. They couldn’t contain us for 90 minutes, and penalties are never guaranteed for anyone.”

Berewuleng’s Super Cup victory not only adds silverware but also sets the tone for what promises to be an exciting league campaign.
