Modou Lamin Nyassi, the head coach of the Brikama United Football Club, faulted late preparation for the satayba boys’ slumber start to The Gambia Football Federation Division 1 League campaign.
Brikama United Football Club played a nail-biting barren draw against Marimoo Pakfood Football Club in Week 4 of the top-tier Gambian league. The satayba boys could not build up on their 3-1 derby win over Greater Tomorrow academy in the Brikama derby.
However, the Brikama United gaffer, Modou Lamin Nyassi, told The Alkamba Times Sports that Brikama United’s poor start to the league is due to the late preseason of the team.
“It all depends on the preparation, how we prepared. We all know we prepared very late. You can not prepare a team less than five weeks before a season. Preparation should go at least six weeks before the league start.” Modou Lamin Nyassi said. And he afterward points fingers at the Brikama Sports Committee for canceling the team’s initial preseason date.
“I set a preseason date, and the committee canceled it, so we go by that. This should be a learning process for all of us. Every year Brikama will start late, and it doesn’t work.”
Elsewhere, Greater Tomorrow Academy beat Waa Banjul Football Club 3-2 in a scintillating five goals thriller at the Banjul mini-stadium while Falcons Football thrashed Steve Biko Football Club 2-0.
