As Cross-Cultural Ambassador, Karaga’s responsibilities will include promoting unity, heritage, and cultural awareness, and supporting CAP’s initiatives in community education and empowerment. The role underscores his influence in fostering dialogue and understanding through arts and media in The Gambia.
CAP’s broader mission is to empower African children, youth, and women through education, cultural awareness, and community engagement. The organization also emphasizes strengthening parental involvement, supporting educational success, and assisting underserved African women in returning to school while building leadership skills.
“Through culturally responsive programs, CAP prepares youth to become confident, engaged members of their communities in New York City and other places where we engage,” Dr. Drammeh explained. Key programs include Counseling & Mentorship, Girls’ Empowerment, College Outreach, Women’s Leadership Development, Community Education & Advocacy, and Early and Forced Marriage Awareness.
The organization’s impact aims to achieve stronger family involvement in education, empowered African women and girls, higher graduation and college-readiness rates, and community-led change and advocacy.
In response to the appointment, Alpha Karaga expressed profound gratitude to Ambassador Dr. Musu Kebba Drammeh and CAP for the recognition. “I am deeply honored by this appointment,” Karaga said. “It serves as a moral booster to continue serving my community, country, and the globe in promoting arts, culture, and peaceful co-existence, love, and unity among mankind.”
