Ceesay celebrating with Susso

Abdoulie Ceesay, one of Paide’s new signings, was thrown into the fray in a 2-1 away win against Bala Town.

Ceesay came off the bench, replacing Dimitri in the 57th minute. Ceesay, who scored five goals in the just concluded season with Real de Banjul, was put through by Kristal before scoring a sublime finish in the 64th minute.

His goal has equaled Ebrima Singhateh’s record of scoring on his European debut, as the former Gambia U20 also found the back of the net against Dinamo Tbilisi in the 22/23 Uefa Conference League qualifiers.

Paide took home three points ahead of Thursday’s return leg at the Pärnu stadium.

Ceesay says the goal against the Lakesiders is just the tick of the iceberg.

“The goal is a big thing for me; it has motivated me more. It was a proud moment for me to know that my family was watching back at home. Its always a great feeling to score in your debut and been in a European competition too. I am sure there will be lots of achievements in the future because the confidence is there.” Ceesay mentioned

“I was prepared to play, and the coach motivated me and kept on pushing me. It gave me the confidence I needed and he told me to relax in front of the goal. When the game started, I got the confidence that I could score once I came and had the chance.”

“The system of the coach is very good; it’s just similar to the one I had with Real de Banjul, which made me fit in and settle in quickly. We will achieve a lot together so that we find ourselves at the next level.”

Goalkeeper Ebrima Jarju was close to earning his second clean sheet in three appearances in Europé, only to concede late from the spot. Jarju, who earned two caps with the scoroions in the June World Cup quilifiers, saved one 1v1 in the first half and continued where he stopped by making two more crucial saves in the 18-yard box during the second half.

The Gambian netminder has been playing a crucial role for the new arrivals Abdoulie Ceesay and Muhammed Susso from Real de Banjul.

“I am really happy for him; it’s nice to be with someone who has had a brillant start in their career.  It’s reassuring to see him doing things that I advised him to do,” Jarju indicated.
