A total of eleven (11) new cases have been filed at various Magistrate Courts across the country. Of these, ten (10) cases pertain to drug possession, in violation of section 35 of the Drug Control Act (DCA) 2003, while one (1) case involves drug trafficking, contravening section 43 of the same act.

Regarding case resolution, DLEAG announced they successfully prosecuted nine (9) cases during the period. In addition to enforcement, DLEAG adds that it is actively engaged in drug demand reduction initiatives and has conducted preventive programs, including radio talk shows and school sensitization activities. Recent radio talk shows were aired on GRTS Radio on Thursdays, Islamic Al-Falaq on Saturdays, and Soma Community Radio on Sundays.

Furthermore, DLEAG’s North Bank Regional Command collaborated with The Gambia Police Force at the Farafenni Police Station to organize a school outreach program at Farafenni Senior Secondary School.

These efforts, the agency says, reflect DLEAG’s commitment to not only combat drug trafficking and possession but also to educate the community on the dangers of drug abuse.
