Gambian international goalkeeper Ebrima Jarju kept a clean sheet against Faroe Island B36 Torshavn.
Jarju, who kept five clean sheets in Paide’s last six matches, was making his European debut in the Europa Conference League away match at the Gundadalur stadium.
Jarju, 25, has featured in 17 matches this season and is thrilled with the clean sheet and the team’s performances.
“The performance was good. They had some important saves that resulted in the game-ending goalless. It was challenging. The only difference that I witnessed was the tempo of the game. I am grateful for my first European game and for having kept a clean sheet. I am proud of myself and happy for my teammates,” Jarju told TAT Sports.
“We came for a Win, but the situation at the field didn’t make it easy. We played on artificial turf, and it rained before the game.”
Countryman Babou Cham was an unused substitute while Bubacarr Tambedou’s FC Sheriff lost 1-0 away to Romanian club Farul Constanța. However, Tambedou wasn’t on the match-day squad list.
The Europe Conference League Qualifiers’ second leg is poised to take place on July 20th, 2023
As FC Astana looked for the winner, Dembo Darboe was thrown into the fray. Dembo was introduced in the 73rd minute of the match, but it ended in a 1-1 draw with Georgian club FC Dinamo Tbilisi in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League qualifiers.
Jarju hopes to return to the national team fold after being called up thrice (doubleheader against Chad) & the test match against Guinea Bissau in Turkey.
