The Gambia Radio and Television Service (GRTS) has appointed Ebrima Sedat Ceesay, a seasoned tape editor and well-known television personality, as its new Manager for TV Production. The state-owned broadcaster announced the promotion, effective last week, marking a significant milestone in Ceesay’s two-decade career with the organization.
Ceesay’s journey at GRTS began in 2005 when he joined as a messenger. Demonstrating dedication and talent, he transitioned to the editing department in 2008, where he honed his skills in television production. His career took a creative leap forward when he co-founded the popular program ‘Dial GRTS’ alongside Njemeh Bah, later continuing the show with co-host Charreh Sanneh.
In 2014, Ceesay enhanced his expertise with a diploma in special effects techniques and post-production from a prestigious Indian institution.
Under the leadership of former Director General Lamin Manga, Dial GRTS was rebranded as Starline Show; Ceesay co-hosted the revamped program with Fanta Ceesay and, later, Charreh Sanneh, further solidifying his presence in Gambian television.
His academic pursuits continued with a bachelor’s degree in 3D animation and multimedia technology in 2018, the same year he was officially appointed as a tape editor at GRTS. Ceesay also earned a diploma in design thinking and business model canvas in Malaysia, showcasing his commitment to professional growth.
Bringing a wealth of experience and technical expertise to his new role, Ceesay’s appointment as Manager for TV Production in 2025 reflects his remarkable rise through the ranks at GRTS. The broadcaster anticipates that his innovative vision and leadership will elevate its television programming to new heights.
