Five Top Gambian Scientists Shine in 2025 AD Scientific Index
Five top scientists from the University of The Gambia have achieved significant recognition in the recently published 2025 AD Scientific Index (Alper-Doger Scientific Index), solidifying their reputation as leading academic figures nationally and internationally.
Dr. Amadou Barrow, Dr. Lamin Sanyang, Dr. Herbert Robinson (Vice Chancellor of the University of The Gambia), Dr. Ousman Bajinka (lecturer at the School of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences), and Gabriel O. Ogun, Acting dean at the School of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences have been ranked among the top scientists in The Gambia.
The AD Scientific Index, developed by Prof. Dr. Murat Alper and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cihan Döğer is known for its comprehensive assessment of scientific performance.
It evaluates researchers based on metrics such as total and recent H-index, i10-index, and citation counts, providing a transparent and data-driven overview of individual academic productivity and contributions.
The 2025 edition of the index includes over 2.39 million scientists and 24,000 institutions from 221 countries, highlighting the remarkable achievements of these Gambian researchers in a global academic landscape. Their recognition elevates their careers and enhances the status of scientific research in The Gambia.
Reacting to the news, Dr. Ousman Bajinka, a postdoctoral researcher at Shandong Cancer Hospital, Shandong First Medical University in China, expressed his admiration for his colleague Dr. Amadou Barrow, stating, “Having Amadou Barrow as a coauthor is always a great inspiration for me, as I learn a lot from him. I see a promising future for UTG; however, that future should be planted today by availing all opportunities to young scientists.”
The recognized scientists are noted for their significant contributions across various disciplines within the 13 major academic fields and 197 sub-branches assessed by the AD Scientific Index.
