Former Cameroonian International Samuel Etoo has hailed the compactness of The Gambia’s Scorpions who advanced to the quarter-finals of the AFCON in their first appearance.

The all-time goalscorer in the Africa Cup of Nations, who also doubles as the President of Camerronian Football Faderation makes the remarks after the Gambia’s one-nil win over Guinea in the round of 16.

“The Gambia have a compact and good team, For me, the problem other countries have done is that they underestimate the Gambia, you cannot do this in football,” Etoo said.

The former Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea and Inter Milan star also hails the collective football played by The Gambia.

“The Gambia does not play amazing football that will amaze you no, but they have a collective and collective football is important”.

Etoo who won the African player of the year’s award four times said, he has given the Cameroon coach a clue about The Gambia’s side.

“I have spoken to the head coach and I gave him the game plan to win on Saturday and may the best team win”.

The Gambia will play Cameroon on Saturday 28th January 2022 in the quarterfinals.
