The Gambia Immigration Department (GID) has completed a significant operation to remove prohibited immigrants, concluding a process that began with the interception of 75 suspected would-be migrants at Yarambamba. Acting under Part VI of the Immigration Act 1965 (as amended), the GID finalized the removal procedures on March 23, 2025, ensuring compliance with all legal standards.

On March 22, 2025, authorities transported 34 individuals, including Senegalese and Bissau-Guinean nationals, to the Giboro border for removal. The remaining prohibited immigrants were escorted to the Amdalai border the following day, marking the operation’s completion. Gambian nationals among the group were released and safely reunited with their families.

The GID emphasized its dedication to national security, stating that the operation reflects its ongoing efforts to combat irregular migration. “We remain committed to safeguarding our borders while adhering to legal protocols,” a GID spokesperson said. The successful removals underscore the department’s resolve to implement robust measures against unauthorized migration.
