The Gambia U23 Coach Abdou Jammeh invited 31 players to begin training on Monday, 1st May 2023, at the late Ousman Saho Football Field in old Yundum at 9 am.
According to Jammeh, the primary purpose of the training is to build a strong team for the U23.
“This training will be the first recruitment phase before the next U23 qualifiers. It is important to assemble a team and train with them; you can use it as recruitment because recruitment is an ongoing process; know your players. They need to understand your philosophy and tactics,” Jammeh told TAT Sports.
In the previous qualifiers, the Gambia bow out in the qualifiers following a 3-2 aggregate defeat after two legs. The Scorpions beat Burkina Faso 1-0 in the first leg before losing the second leg 2-1 in the qualifiers.
