Gambia’s Captain Pa Modou Jagne Announces Retirement

The first player to have captain The Gambia national male team in the Africa Cup of Nations championship Pa Modou Jagne has announced his retirement from international football.

Captain Pa Modou Jagne will hang up his boots and his number 13 jersey and as well hand back the captain armband in a brief ceremony slated for Monday 7th February 2022 at the National Technical Training Centre.

The Federation is set to host a brief reception and press conference as it is the first time a Gambian International player is doing such.

Born on the 26th of December 1989 in Banjul, Jagne started playing for the national team in 2008.

He was part of the Gambia’s team that won the Africa U-17 tournament in 2005 and played in FIFA U-17 World Cup 2005. He was also part of The Gambia’s U-20 team that won bronze in 2007 African U-20 tournament and participated in FIFA U-20 World Cup 2007.
