Gambian foreign-based players enjoyed an impressive start to 2026, finding the back of the net across several leagues worldwide.
Solomon Kanform became the first foreign-based Gambian player to score in 2026, while Pa Omar Babou, Adama Bojang, and Adama Sidibeh also netted their respective clubs’ first goals of the year.
Italy
The Emilia-Romagna Derby ended in a draw as Mateo Pellegrino cancelled out Kristian Thorsvedt’s opener, with Sassuolo and Parma sharing the points. Gambian winger Alieu Fadera started the match and played 74 minutes.
France
Adama Bojang continued his fine form, scoring his third goal in four matches across all competitions. Bojang netted the equaliser in the 12th minute against Annecy after being put through on the left by Ivorian teammate Zabi. The former Gambia U20 forward showed great composure to finish low into the corner.
Stade de Reims currently sit second in the table, six points behind Troyes, as they push for a return to Ligue 1.
Scotland
Adama Sidibeh scored his fifth league goal of the season, calmly slotting home in the 25th minute. St Johnstone pushed for another goal, with Sidibeh heavily involved, but he was denied on several occasions.
St Johnstone hold a five-point lead at the top as they aim for a return to the Scottish Premiership.
Bangladesh Premier League
Captain Solomon Kanform reached 10 goal contributions in nine matches, converting a penalty in the 16th minute. The hosts equalised just before halftime through Henrique. Rahmatganj currently sit third with 15 points after nine league games.
Meanwhile, Pa Omar Babou scored his sixth league goal of the season, boosting his position in the Golden Boot race. Babou broke the deadlock in the 42nd minute against PWD Sports Club and has now scored in five consecutive matches, registering five goals in his last four appearances for Fortis FC in all competitions.
