The President of The Gambia Press Union, Muhammed S. Bah, is attending an annual media forum on media and democratic governance in West Africa.
The Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) organized the event in collaboration with the Center for Democratic Development in Accra, Ghana.
The forum brings together media, governance, and human rights actors to discuss trends surrounding media, freedom of expression, and the recent democratic recession in West Africa and find possible solutions to these issues.
The GPU President, Muhammed S. Bah, told TAT that the forum will enhance the understanding of the work of Gambian media within the sub-region.

“This event will help expose to our West African Colleagues what Gambian media is doing towards the consolidation of our democracy and fight against democratic recession,” Bah said.
“I will be part of the media actors that will bring a resolution that will finally be streamlined by ECOWAS in their democratic and governance programs.”
The GPU President said: “We have a role to play in enhancing the work of the media.’
He added: ‘We have been availed the opportunity during the two-day forum to look into the media’s problems and to ensure its proactive towards strengthening democracy in the sub-region.’
