Hawks Football Club secured a vital 2 – 1 over struggling Elite United at the Independence Stadium in Bakau to end their first-round campaign in the Gambia Football Federation first division league.

Elite United coach Yaya Manneh said they will rectify their mistakes in their subsequent matches. ‘It’s a difficult first round for us, but we still need to go back to the training ground to rectify our mistakes to better prepared ourselves for the second round of the season.”

Hawks gaffer Alieu Jagne says his side will not be carried away by this win. “We are currently at the third place in the league but we will not be carried away by that. as I told the boys we even need more performance in the second round than what we did in the first round.”

Elite United are fighting for their life at the bottom of the table with only 10 points out of 15 league matches whiles the Hawks are occupying 3rd place with 26 points in 15 league matches.
