The defending champions of the Gambia Football Federation Division 1 league, Hawks FC, battered Waa Banjul Football Club 2-0 to further pinned the Banjul boys down in the pecking order of the GFF league table standings.

Hawks FC’s 2-0 win has compounded Waa Banjul’s miserable performance of the season. The City boys have won just one match, drew one, and lost five of the seven games played in the 2022/2023 GFF league season.

Remi Mendy broke the deadlock in the 28th of the epic encounter, and Abdou Jatta sealed the defending champions’ win with a blistering goal in the 78th minute to leave Waa Banjul down on the backside of the table.

Waa Banjul Football Club coach Abdou Njie told TAT Sports in a post-match interview that his team had a challenging outing.

The former Gambian International right full-back told The Alkamba Times his squad had been licking goals.

“Right now, things are difficult for us. We are going through hard times. We are conceding goals, and we are not winning. That’s my main problem. I’m trying to bring a system to solve our problem, but time is not on my side because we play every week.”

Waa Banjul will lock horns with fellow relegation-threatened Samger Football on Monday 20th, February at the Late Ousman Saho Memorial Football Filed in Yundum.

In another match, Falcons Football Club held league leaders Real De Banjul to a barren goalless draw.
