The director of Health Promotion and Education at the Ministry of Health, Modou Njai, has been appointed National Coordinator with the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (ACDC).
Njai told TAT that his new Job is “on secondment,” and his role as the Director of Health Promotion and Education has been handed over to his assistant.
Njai will serve in his new Job from 1 November 2022 to August 2024.
His post is under the Western Coordination Centers of the ACDC in Abuja, Nigeria, with the responsibility to oversee 5 to 10 West African countries.
With almost 30 years of work experience under the Health Ministry, Njai rose from Public Health Officer to Director of Health Promotion and Education.
Until his new appointment, Njai was a steering committee member of the Public Health risk communication and community engagement and practice for Africa, established by the African Union Commission – ACDC and WHO Regional Office for Africa.
He holds a Master’s in Public Health and Health Promotion, a post-graduate Diploma in Food and Nutrition Security, and a West African Diploma in Public Health and Health Inspector’s Certificate.
