Reports on Tuesday evening say Momodou Sabally has been served a summons to appear before the High Court in Banjul on November 14, 2022, at 11 am to respond to a civil suit filed by the Gambian businessman Abubakarr Jawara.
“I have contacted my lawyer, and I’m ready to meet him in court,” Sabally told Alkamba Times while reacting to the suit.
Jawara has sued Sabally “for defamation and slander” and is asking the court to make an order that the defendant pays the plaintiff D8 million in “special damages,”; an order directing the defendant to issue an unreserved apology to the plaintiff to be published in widely circulating national newspapers; and “a perpetual injunction restraining” Sabally from “further defaming” him.
