Iran’s Raisi condemns Israeli strikes
Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi has condemned Israeli strikes on Gaza, saying they will only quicken its downfall.
“Through its crime last night, the Zionist regime once more showed its invading and violating nature to the world, but the resistance of the people of Gaza will accelerate the downfall of this child-killing regime,” Raisi said in a meeting with his cabinet.
Iran’s foreign ministry had also condemned the “barbaric attack by the apartheid Zionist regime” in a statement last night, saying Palestinian groups have a right to respond.

Israel says it is ready for a week of operations in Gaza Strip
Israel said it is preparing for a “week of operations” against Palestinian armed groups in the Gaza Strip.
Israeli army spokesman Ran Kochav was quoted by Israeli media as saying that there are no negotiations for a truce, and that the offensive on Gaza may take at least one week.
The Israeli army said that it carried out 30 raids on more than 40 targets in the Gaza Strip with 55 missiles and artillery shelling.
Islamic Jihad: ‘ No talk of mediation’
An official in the Islamic Jihad movement said there has been no talk of calm or mediation “for the moment”.
The unnamed official was quoted by local Palestinian news agency as saying that the situation “is heading for an escalation”.
Israel launched a new offensive on the Gaza Strip on Friday, and assassinated a senior commander with the armed wing of Islamic Jihad.
At least 10 other Palestinians, including a five-year-old girl, have been killed and more than 70 wounded, the Palestinian health ministry said.
Arab League holds Israel responsible for ‘heinous crimes’
The Arab League has rebuked Israel’s targeting of civilians in the Gaza Strip, and said it holds Israel responsible for the consequences of the “dangerous escalation” against Palestinians.
“We call on the international community, especially the United Nations Security Council and human rights organisations, to take immediate and effective action to stop this aggression, and to provide an international protection system for the Palestinian people by implementing the relevant UN resolutions,” a statement said.
“The [Israeli] occupation authorities are fully responsible for this aggression,” the statement continued, adding that there must be “accountability before the competent international justice bodies”.
Israel arrests 19 members of the Islamic Jihad group
Israeli forces have arrested a number of Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, targeting former prisoners who are members of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad faction.
At least 19 Palestinians were arrested in addition to detained journalist Ibrahim Abu Saffiyeh after his house in the Beit Sira village near Ramallah city was raided.

Palestinian man killed east of Khan Younis
One Palestinian man has been killed in new air strikes on the Gaza Strip early on Saturday, local Palestinian sources said.
Tamim Ghassan Hijazi, from the town of Bani Suhaila, was killed in an attack on the southern town of Khan Younis.
Israeli war planes targeted land in the al-Zana area, east of the city.
The death toll since Israel began its latest offensive on the Gaza Strip is now 11, including a five-year-old girl and a 23-year-old woman.
