Sambou Kora and his elder brother Alieu Kora scored for Kuteh Jumbul FC in a healing 3-0 win over Jarra West Football Club at the Soma mini stadium on Monday, March 20, 2023, to seal their second win in 12 GFF League 2 matches.
The young striker, Sambou, returning from a long-term injury, scored in both halves of the game to complete his brace before making way for his brother, Alieu.
The latter joined the game 20 minutes into the second half and came closer to adding their lead with a one-and-one chance but had to wait a bit for his moment after his ball went slowly passing the edge of the bottom crossbar.
The Jarra boys were optimistic about a comeback. However, they had all their best chances missed very slightly with Buba Sey, who was playing against his native and former team, came closer to pulling one back, but the crossbar denied his shot from outside the box.
With less than 10 minutes left on the final clock, the Basse boys utilized a counterattack through their left-back, who placed the ball for his striker Alieu Kora to score the third and final goal of the game. Alieu added to his scoresheet — reaching his 5th league goal of the season.
His younger brother, Sambou Kora, was on a hat trick on his return. Sambou was, however, delighted with the brace he had.
“It is the happiest moment of my life. It could not have come at a better time because we have been suffering since the start of the season, so scoring two goals eventually helped us to our second win. I am just happy,” Sambou expressed.
Before Monday’s win, Kuteh Jumbul had an unbearable start to the campaign — managing to secure a single win in 11 games with two other draws putting them at the bottom of the table. The Basse boys are hoping to maintain the momentum from today’s victory.
