On loan from Hawks FC, Matar Badjie has helped Armenian side FC Lernayin Artsakh to be crowned champions of the First League.
The team thus returns to the Armenian Premier League.
“Zama” as Matar is fondly called netted ten goals and provided four assists. The versatile midfielder explains what this title means to him.
“It’s always amazing winning your first trophy and I hope it will lead to more glories. It’s an absolute joy and a great experience.” He stressed
Matar who won the FA Cup and Super Cup with Hawks before helping the Gambia U20 win WAFU Cup in 2018 is hoping to excel with likely bigger offers abroad.
Matar had an amazing stint with the Hawks before moving to Europe. He is also hopeful that his Gambian club Hawks FC can end their league drought.
“I have hope, that this season we can win something. The group has been together for a long now. It’s long overdue since 96 when we last won the league. Being crown champions will make us compete outside the Gambia, attract players to our club and equally be able to sell players abroad”. He added
