Prominent opposition politician Momodou Sabally has submitted his defense against businessman Abubakar Jawara who sued him for “defamation” at the Banjul High Court.
Sabally was served a writ of summons to appear before the High Court in Banjul on November 14, 2022, to respond to a civil suit filed against him by Jawara, chief executive of GACH global.
When the day arrived, Sabally appeared as summoned, but proceedings were adjourned for mention on January 17, 2023, to await the defendant’s response.
Sabally’s defense, in a response, outlined why the case should not go ahead, which his lawyers promised to submit within ten days of the required time.
The plaintiff, businessman Abubakar Jawara is claiming D8 million for defamation and slander, as well as an order directing the defendant Momodou Sabally to issue an unreserved apology to him.
