Nessim Trading Company Ltd, one of the leading and crucial players in the Gambian flour and allied food products processing industry, has won the prestigious Gambia Revenue Authority award for the most compliant manufacturer of the year 2022.
The Multinational Flour Milling and Processing Company was incorporated in 2014 as a private limited liability firm under the Gambia Companies Act 2013.
Nessim trading, a conglomerate of different business entities operating in the Gambia and the subregion, was recognized for being tax compliant by GRA at a ceremony attended by the President of The Gambia, H.E Adama Barrow, over the weekend.
Reacting to the news, the CEO of Nessim trading and Elhella Company Limited, Mr. Ahmed El Mealy Ould Menane, one of the leading importers of household goods in the Gambia, such as china green tea (black star Attaya) coffee, and a host of other branded ElHella products expressed delight over the award.
“We feel good knowing that we not only produce good wheat flour products but also contribute to national development by being tax compliant,” He told Alkamba Times.
The top businessman believes that businesses are the backbone of development. ‘so I advise all business owners to pay taxes to help the government in all areas of development.’
He added: “We as a company don’t only produce essential foodstuff (wheat flour); we take corporate social responsibilities essential as a way of giving back to the communities.”
The Nassim flour mill was inaugurated on 18th February 2018 by the Gambian leader H.E President Adama Barrow.
Following its inauguration, the company commenced business in February 2018 with a daily production capacity of 300/400 metric tons of wheat. The mill is manned by a team of highly trained and skilled professionals working at a high level of efficiency to deliver the best product as per global standards.
From its inception, Nessim Trading made huge investments and inroads in building milling technology and human capital to sustain its strategic position and competitive advantage in the Gambia’s flour milling industry.

Mr. Ahmed El Mealy Ould Menane is also a key shareholder of Nessim’s Fish Processing Company, expanding access to fisheries products for local and international markets.
The Gambia Investment and Export Promotion Agency GIEPA granted the company a special Investment Certificate (SIC)) for the manufacturing, processing, and distributing wheat flour and allied food products, driving a production line currently employing hundreds of Gambians.
