North Star Academy AFC, in partnership with the North Bank Regional Football Association, launched its transformative Summer Camp and Community Borehole Drilling Project today in Kerr Jatta, Nuimi. Running from July 7 to 11, the initiative merges sports development with community empowerment, aiming to uplift the region’s youth and infrastructure.

The summer camp has drawn over 100 school pupils from Nuimi, offering structured football training, mentorship, and life skills workshops.

Designed to enhance athletic skills and foster leadership, the program encourages participants to excel both on the field and in their personal growth. Held at the North Star AFC Mini-Stadium, the camp serves as a vibrant hub for community engagement and youth development.

A unique feature of this year’s camp is the participation of three students—Lennox, Driss, and Robertor—from Miami Guiller Preparatory School in the United States. These international visitors are actively contributing by coaching, supporting the borehole drilling project, and participating in community gardening efforts. Their involvement highlights a growing cultural exchange, enriching the camp’s impact and fostering global connections.

The borehole drilling project, a cornerstone of the initiative, addresses the critical need for clean water in Kerr Jatta. By combining this infrastructure development with sports and education, North Star AFC is creating a holistic model for sustainable community growth. The project not only provides access to safe drinking water but also engages youth in hands-on community service, instilling a sense of responsibility and pride in them.

At the opening ceremony, Mr. Ebou Jarra, CEO of North Star AFC, addressed the enthusiastic crowd, emphasizing the program’s dual focus on sports and education. “It’s inspiring to see so many children, boys and girls, participating in our summer camp,” Jarra said. “With consistent support from parents in both academics and sports, we can nurture a new generation of scholar-athletes who pursue excellence on the field and in the classroom.”
