The alleged notorious thief who raided the house of a US-based Gambian couple in Brufut Garden and took away valuables and cash worth around D1.5 million in January this year has been granted bail and went into burglary again, and sources told TAT.

The alleged thief was undergoing trials at the Brikama Magistrate Court after being arrested as the suspect in the theft in Brufut earlier this year.

However, reports have that he was granted bail in March with the provision of a sum amount of D2.5 million, two land properties within his jurisdiction, four national Identity Cards, and an affidavit by a surety.

Three weeks later, the same thief, Modou Lamin Ndow, has been reportedly caught on CCTV cameras breaking in and stealing from a house in the Greater Banjul Area but has gone on the run again as there are ongoing efforts of the Police to arrest him.

Ndow, in the earlier case, was arrested in Jarreng village in the Central River Region of The Gambia while on the run, thanks to a digital tracker connected to an air-pod among the stolen properties, which helped the victim to locate him.

From the US-based couple, the alleged thief stole properties which include a gold chain set worth $3500, 2 gold chain sets; for $500, silver crystal; for $33, an AirPod; for $250, an Apple Watch for $438, 1 MK watch; for $150; 2 MK watches; $200, male diamond watch; $445, Gucci purse; $1079, Aido purse; $60, 2 male designer perfumes; $250, and cash of $15,800 were all stolen.
