Pa Modou Sohna was given a run of minutes as the former Real de Banjul whiz kid returned to the GFF First Division. The Galaxies handed Pa Modou his debut against TMT, where he went on to play for 50 minutes.

On Friday he stayed much longer, having 89 minutes under his belt against the Hawks. He extended the galaxy’s lead in the 71st minute. Pa, who left the GFF league in 2019, is both an FA Cup winner and a Super Cup winner.

Gambia hasn’t produced a player of his magnitude since he left the shores of the country. The former Gambia U20, and the Real De Banjul creative left-winger is regarded as one of the best players in his generation. During his stint in Morocco, he played for Fus Rabat and Jeunesse Sportive Soualem.

Sohna reminisced his stint in Morocco as he admitted it was not the best option.
“I believed my move to Morocco was not the best move for me. It was a bad move, my time wasted there, and many Gambians forgot about where I was and who I was. I returned to the Gambia to get back to my best level in football and go to a better league, I know what I am capable of and what I can bring to a team. ” He mentioned

He also acknowledged injuries has been a bane to his progress as it really affected his career.
“My ACL injury gave me a tough time, but I had a fantastic rehabilitation; Morocco has very good doctors. That’s why I am even regaining the form I had before. The Pa Modou that they knew before is the same Pa Modou coming back. It went to a stage where people forgot about me. The talent is still there; everyone respects me at BST. I have been given a leadership role; I advise the young players. We are taking it step by step and pushing the team to see what we will achieve in the future. “

Sohna further emphasized that Steve Trawally played a key role in his return to Gambian football.

” I spoke to Steve Trawally, which is also one of the factors that I returned to the Gambia First Division. He is always on the phone with me, advising me. He has been there for me. So, as Musa Barrow and Muhammed Badamoesi. I am grateful to them because they always help me regarding my football career and look after me. “

Hawks FC is Pa Modou’s favorite opponent. He has now scored four goals against Hawks. Sohna hinted on his exploits against Hawks.

“It’s never easy between me and Hawks FC. I don’t even know why. You have to go way back to the derby days between Real de Banjul and Hawks. I was playing against them as if I was playing for Real. They always come prepared against me; I go with the same riddim, too. I knew I would score Hawks. I saw their defense line. They were playing high line; I spoke to our striker, to pretend as if he was playing my role, and I played his position. So, any ball behind their defense, I made the forward run, and there was no offside. That’s how my goal came about. “

Sohna hasn’t given up on CHAN national team call up as he stressed he will grab it with both hands if it comes

“If I am invited, I will be honored to represent my country; it will be perfect timing for my fitness level. I am yet to be 100%, but until then, with the games I am playing, I will be in better shape. I will go and give my best; it’s about the country. All you want is your country to go forward. “

BST Galaxy head coach Malang Yaffa also pointed out that the signing of Sohna is essential for his team as they believe in his qualities.

“Pa Modou’s signing is a special one because he is well known in this country. He has experience, and he has exposure. He is a caliber of player that we missed for a very long time. Having him in the team is going to boost the morals of the players, especially the young players. He is vocal in the training ground, always talking to players, and he even made our work easy somehow because he communicates a lot. He is deadly, very good at making assists. His presence is huge. We are expecting lots of goals from him because he is ready to work,” Yaffa added.
