Fortune Football Club continue with their fine run of form with a comfortable 2-0 win over PSV Wellingara and continues their winning streak by triumphing in all four matches played.
The Petroleum boys had a dream start to the Gambia Football Federation Division 1 thanks to their stubborn and combative defenders, who kept a clean sheet in all four matches.
Despite occupying the bottom place in the table of the pinnacle of Gambian football, Wellingara kept Fortune FC at bay in the first half before the second-half goals from Yousupha Darboe and Alhagie Ceesay condemned PSV Wellingara their fourth consecutive defeat.
“We won the league season before last, so it is the same strength we are going with. Last season we lost the baton. So this time, we are with a good form we will try to maintain and see. If the possibility is there and we win our matches, we will be champions.”
Jane Joof, the head coach of Fortune Football Club, told The Alkamba Times Sports that his side makes the hay while the sun shines due to the poor runoff form of PSV Wellingara FC.
“We have to take advantage; it is not easy to play against any team. This is the Gambian league, but we knew this team we were playing today was at the bottom of the table, so we had to take our chances before they came to form in their subsequent matches. So we try to capitalize on that advantage because we knew their morals are down.” Jane Joof said.
Jane Joof, who guided the Petroleum Boys to their first-ever title win, enthused that his side could win the league if they continued their current performance.
“We won the league season before last, so it is the same strength we are going with. Last season we lost the baton. So this time, we are with a good form we will try to maintain and see. If the possibility is there and we win our matches, we will be champions.” Jane highlighted.
Elsewhere, Team Rhine produced a scintillating 2-1 win over the capital boys, Banjul United Football Club.
