Police charged former TRRC lead counsel, Comedian Baba Jah, and Released them on Bail

The Former Presidential candidate and lead counsel at defunct Truth Reconciliation and Reparation Commission (TRRC), Essa Mbaye Faal, and US-based Gambian comedian, has been charged by the Gambia Police for Idle and disorderliness following the Saturday night altercation.

However, both men were granted Police bail in the sum of D100, 000.

In a video trending on social media, the former TRRC lead counsel was in a heated altercation with Gambian comedian Baba Jah around the Senegambia area. In the video, the Gambian comedian, primarily based in the United States of America, was heard insulting the parents of the former Independent Presidential Candidate.

Meanwhile, the third person who physically attacked Baba Jah has also been charged with Common Assault. He is currently detained at the Brusubi Police Station as an investigation into the matter continues.

The police spokesperson and deputy both confirmed the development.

“Essa Mbaye Faal and Baba Jah have been granted Police bail and are asked to report to the Brusubi Police Station on Monday morning,” deputy police Spokesman Alieu Jamaka told Alkamba Times.

The Spokesperson of the Gambia Police Force, Superintendent Lamin Njie, also told TAT police received a complaint about the former TRRC Lead Counsel, Essa Mbye Faal, and Baba Jah and both cases are currently under review and investigation.

Meanwhile, the duo is taken to the Brusubi Police Station on Sunday, where the matter is under review.
