Police in Kerewan are actively investigating the suspected murder of a 56-year-old farmer whose body was discovered in Tallen Fula Village, Lower Badibu District, North Bank Region.

The incident came to light on Friday, December 12, 2025, when authorities received a report around 07:50 hours of a man found lying motionless on a village street early that morning. Officers from Kerewan Police Station, accompanied by health officials, swiftly responded and evacuated the body to Farafenni General Hospital.

A specialized team, headed by the Divisional Crime Officer and supported by the Crime Scene Investigation Unit, later visited the village to reconstruct the scene and collect initial evidence. The body was subsequently transferred to Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital (EFSTH) in Banjul for a post-mortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.

As the probe advanced, police arrested two individuals in connection with the case. The suspects are currently detained and assisting investigators with inquiries.

Preliminary findings suggest an altercation broke out between the deceased and one of the suspects. During the dispute, the victim was allegedly struck with an object believed to be a stick, sustaining injuries. Reports indicate he managed to leave the scene but collapsed shortly afterward, where he was discovered the next morning.

The Gambia Police Force emphasized its commitment to thorough investigations and delivering justice. Authorities urged citizens to resolve conflicts peacefully to prevent such tragedies.

Investigations remain ongoing as police piece together the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
