Wellingara’s divisional team booked their ticket to the Gambia National League One after beating Tallinding Utd 3-0.
They also had the results of the game between Bombada United & Red Hawks in their favor, which further cemented their qualification.
This is the second time in the club’s history that they have made it to the top flight and coach Kebba Sawaneh is satisfied with the achievement.
” Knowing that we were once, there has always been the belief and confidence that we can make it back to the top level. The support from my technical team, the board, the fans, and our ex-players, including Matarr Ceesay, paid a dividend.”Kebba stated.
Kebba guided the team to ten unbeaten games, which started from week 17 to week 26, registered eight victories, and drew 2. He also topped it up with awards for three coaches of the month(December-January, June-July, and July-August).
Psv will play against Wagadu, Jarra West, and Red Hawks in their last three remaining games, and Coach Kebba has already set his sight on maintaining his status in the top tier next season.
“Our main target will be maintaining the team at the top level for some years.” He added.
Goals from Bakary Farigo Badjie, Jerreh Marong, and Salieu Jallow gave Wellingara the much-needed three points against Tallinding Utd, and head coach Kebba couldn’t hide his delight as he called the Second Division a very competitive league.
“I’m happy; I feel so proud of my players and very much grateful to all those who stood by the team directly or indirectly to make the dream a reality. It’s a tough league, very hectic and competitive, all teams have one target, and that is a promotion to Division One. There are many talents, and the good football played by teams has always attracted me. The coaches are very young and apply modern football tactics.”
