Real De Banjul Football Club dropped two points. It fell four points adrift of league leaders Fortune Football Club in the earlier title race of the Gambia Football Federation Division 1 league following their mouthwatering 1-1 draw with all foes, Wallidan Football Club.

Dawda Darboe, The Gambia U-20 and former Gunjur United Football Club striker, gave the Blue Boys Wallidan Football Club the lead in the 26th minute.

Modou Manneh and Ousman Kujabi combined well to restore parity for Real De Banjul in the derby when Ousman Kujabi tapped home Modou Manneh’s out-swinging cross in the 63 minutes.

Vjatšeslav Zahovaiko, the Real De Banjul coach, tasked his players to work on their finishing quality. Zahovaiko said scoring goals is his side problem so far.

“We must work on quality; that’s the biggest problem. We are creating chances, but we are not scoring. It is a matter of time, but the goals will come.”

“We could win the game, especially in the second half. We tried and brought some fresh legs. They bring some fresh energy, and Wallidan struggles in the second half. I’m slightly disappointed with the result, but we played a good match,” Vjatšeslav Zahovaiko explained.

The Petroleum boys, Fortune Football Club, sit in the driving seat of The Gambia’s pinnacle league with 12 points, while Real De Banjul occupies second place with eight points.
