After what appeared as a shock to the world as the Scorpions of The Gambia reached the Africa Cup of Nations round of 16, they produced another shocking performance that saw them edge out Guinea to reach the last eight in their maiden appearance.
Musa Barrow finished home from close range on the 71st minutes to condemned Guinea to a 1 – 0 defeat.
The Syli National staged a late rally and struck the woodwork twice and the Scorpions held on even after having substitute Yusupha Njie sent off late, but it was too little too late for Guinea to stage any meaningful fightback.
