As Donald J. Trump returns to the White House today, marking the inauguration of the 47th President of the United States, the world braces for a dramatic political shift. Representing the ultra-right Republicans, Trump has reignited his “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) movement, promising bold actions that could redefine both American and global politics.

In his inaugural address, Trump stayed true to his campaign rhetoric, vowing to deliver on the promises he made to the American people. Among his most notable declarations were plans to challenge the status quo through sweeping executive orders. These include the immediate launch of massive deportation efforts, the reinstatement of the “Remain in Mexico” policy to bolster the southern border, initiatives to end the war in Ukraine, and a commitment to broker a lasting ceasefire between Hamas and Israel. His tone was resolute, with a strong intention to reshape both domestic and foreign policy.

Trump wasted no time making history. Hours before his swearing-in, he issued an order to restore TikTok, reversing its controversial ban. Equally significant (as part of his commitment) was the recent announcement of a ceasefire deal between Hamas and Israel, which also secured the release of two Israeli hostages, an achievement many attributed to him. These actions have already positioned his administration as one committed to swift and decisive results on the global stage.

Trump’s foreign policy stance has evolved since his first presidency in 2017, when his famous slogan, “America First,” often framed him as a populist and nationalist. Today, he presents himself as a global strategist, focused on containing China through imposing higher tariffs( 60% on Chinese imports) and striking deals to advance America’s interests while projecting leadership abroad. This pivot has elevated him as a polarizing yet undeniably impactful figure in international politics.

However, the balance of power in the global arena—especially amid ongoing frozen conflicts—will pose significant challenges to Trump’s efforts to limit China’s rise, particularly among emerging economies in Africa, Asia, and South America. His administration’s ambition to dominate the automotive sector and expand semiconductor production could falter unless the United States reduces its reliance on Japan, Taiwan, and even China for critical technologies. These obstacles may test the administration’s resolve in navigating a rapidly shifting global landscape.

On the cultural front, Trump made headlines by addressing divisive social issues. In a move likely to spark heated debate, he announced his administration’s intention to officially recognize only male and female genders in American society. This declaration, notably absent during his campaign, underscores his alignment with ultra-conservative values and sets the tone for his administration’s social policies.

Trump also outlined an ambitious plan to restore the American economy and strengthen institutional capacity. Central to this effort is the creation of a new federal entity, the Department of Policy and Efficiency. Tasked with modernizing government operations, this department will be led by tech entrepreneur Elon Musk and policy expert Rebecca X, signaling Trump’s intent to integrate private-sector innovation into public-sector reforms.

Toward the end of his speech, Trump positioned himself as a unifier, declaring his commitment to serve all Americans, regardless of race, background, or political affiliation. He framed himself as a peacemaker and a visionary leader dedicated to fostering a more prosperous and harmonious nation.

As Trump begins his second term, the world watches with anticipation. His return, marked by the resurgence of ultra-right politics, promises to shape the trajectory of American governance and influence global politics in profound and unpredictable ways. With bold policies and a renewed focus on decisive action, Trump’s presidency is poised to leave yet another indelible legacy.
