The official sites of several structures of the State of Senegal have been inaccessible since this afternoon. It would not be a simple coincidence or a one-off failure but a cyber-attack already claimed by digital activists. The Twitter account called @MysteriousTeamO which revealed the pot of roses presents itself as a member of a unit of “cyber-warriors” established in Bangladesh.

For the past few days, an account claiming to be from the famous hacker group Anonymous has been threatening Senegal with a cyber attack, in support of the Senegalese who oppose the regime of Macky Sall, suspected of wanting to run for a 3rd term.

For the time being, several sites of the Presidency of the Republic but also of ministries in charge of key sectors such as the Armed Forces, the Environment, Infrastructures or Agriculture. Other institutions such as the Government Secretariat, the ONFP, the Government Information Office and even Le Dantec Hospital are also affected and their sites are all inaccessible.

Senegal Government some websites down..

Senegal Department of the Environment denv.gouv.sn

Ministry of Infrastructure, Land Transport and Opening up, MITTD, mittd.gouv.sn

All these sites created by ADIE, now Senegal Digital, have a .gouv.sn extension.

Other actions are announced by these hackers who believe that these attacks do not constitute a crime, but a form of protest in support of those who fight against power.

We are trying to reach the Director of ADIE and the communication officers of the Presidency and the Government have remained for the moment. We will come back to it.

While our attempts to reach the public authorities concerned remained in vain last night, finally, late in the night of Friday May 26 to Saturday May 27, the Government, through its spokesperson, Minister Abdou Karim Fofana, officially reacted. The press release from the Government spokesperson about the DDOS attack which Senegal has been the victim of since yesterday indicates that “SENUM SA responsible for managing the gouv.sn domain has mobilized all its teams to allow users of these sites institutions to access online services as quickly as possible. »
