The Head coach of Falcon United believes that the national division one league has reached another level and demands many more qualities on and off the pitch.
“There is no way that you can compare the levels of first division league of the Gambia and the other football league matches in the country, more especially the second and the third division leagues across the country,’ he told TAT Sports.
” When playing in the top flight league, you come across many quality players and coaches that cannot be compared to the lower leagues. You see how players execute themselves during the match, and you need good motivation to reach out to your target,’ Lamin Sanneh, head coach of Falcons, told Alkamba Times sports.
” Football is very demanding, and you will realize that when you have a young team in the top flight, sometimes you will hear people saying football in the Gambia is the same. Of course, our league has no difference, but I can tell you that’s not the reality on the ground. As a young coach, I can tell you that just mere statements top flight in the Gambia is a different ballgame as a young coach and a young team you need so many preparations to compete in the league,” Sanneh added.
Falcons, who gained promotion to the first division last season, are now safe from relegation following a one-all draw against Marimoo FC, who are also out of the drop zone in the table standings.
Falcon had good starts in the season but endured some difficulties along the way that led to the fear of some club faithful about their future in the country’s first division league 2021-22 season. However, that fear has now been wiped out by securing a vital point against Marimoo with secured cement their position in the league next season and a game to spare in this year’s league season.
