The head coach of The Gambia national team Tom Saintfiet has said that his side is not afraid of the host nation Cameroon as the two nation’s prepares to square off in the last eight of AFCON.
The Belgian made the remarks after his teams’ final training session ahead of the encounter.
“We play Cameroon, very strong team the host, 40, 000 people are supporting Cameroon, but we are not afraid of them. We hope our tactical plan will work” Tom said.
The pragmatic tactician further acknowledges that Cameroon are the favourite, but he doesn’t think that should be a focus.
“They are the favourite; we have to be realistic and we have to respect them. But we many times played against big nations and in the end, we could celebrate”.
“We would like to stay at least nine days longer in Cameroon.  So, we are going to battle everything for the country with honour and pride for all Gambians in the world” he added.
Stopping Cameroon from chasing for their 6th AFCON could be the greatest achievement for the Gambian coach and his players.
